"...for the ampersand is content to connect all that's come before with what is yet to come..."
~ D.S. Martin
The one constant in life is change. Our stories are often full of chapters that end and others that begin. Navigating transitions can be challenging, and even the most desired changes can bring grief along with joy. Caring for our spirits during transits of life doesn't have to be something we do alone. Spiritual companions come alongside people to provide a listening presence, intuitive guidance, and curated suggestions for practices and resources appropriate for specific situations. Regular meetings with these people (whether called spiritual director, soul companion, anam cara, or other term) can be a constant touchpoint of encouragement, especially during times of change.
No two sessions are exactly alike, because we are always adapting to the circumstances of our lives. Month to month, different themes may emerge for discussion. Some people like to include spiritual practices such as lectio divina with sacred texts, breath prayers, reflection prompts from oracle cards, or labyrinths. A better understanding of oneself and current situations can come through adding in tools such as the Enneagram and the astrology of natal charts and planetary transits.
My role is to meet you where you are and provide support through the transits of life. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming, multi-spiritual soul companion living in the rural midwest. My spiritual journey has been influenced by progressive and evangelical Christian communities, serving as a pastor within the United Methodist Church, living with a Muslim family in Indonesia, and being the parent of young adults in the LBGTQIA+ community. Spiritual guidance has come from many sources, and I am comfortable coming alongside those who are outside institutional religion as well those who are active within it. Creating ritual for the seasons of life is a passion. Currently I am ordained as an interfaith community chaplain through
the Order of Hildegard, which aims each day for courage and reconciliation, authenticity and awareness, presence and embodiment. πΏπ
